Issue Position

The Lone Star State fuels the nation thanks to policies put into place during Gov. Perry's tenure that incentivized innovation, and are helping put our country on the path to energy security. Under Gov. Perry's leadership, Texas has proven that economic and population growth and environmental protection are not mutually exclusive thanks to smart regulations and state-specific solutions.

* Statewide from 2000-2012, ozone levels have decreased 24 percent; a 12 percent greater reduction than the national average. From 2000-2012, nitrogen oxide levels have decreased by 62.5 percent. And carbon levels have decreased by 9 percent. All while Texas added 2.2 million jobs and more than 6 million people to its population rolls.
*Texas is the top state in the nation for the production of crude oil, natural gas and electricity.
*By focusing on an all-of-the-above energy strategy, Texas under Gov. Perry's leadership became the top wind energy producing state in the nation. In fact, Texas produces more wind energy than all but five countries.
